Black Maternal & Environmental Health Day 2027

Black Maternal & Environmental Health (BMEH) Day was created by Young, Gifted & Green in 2024 to raise awareness about the importance of clean air and water, healthy housing, safe consumer products, and overall environments related to Black maternal health. BMEH Day is observed on the first Thursday in April as a means to uplift Black women and child birthing people’s voices regarding the maternal and environmental health movement along with strengthening if not producing advocates. BMEH Day is a national effort supported by individuals, nonprofit organizations, and government agencies encouraging individuals and organizations to raise awareness and understanding of Black maternal and environmental health issues, seek improved safeguarding for Black expecting mothers and child birthing people, and commit to acts of culturally relevant environmental health wellness.
