National Back to School Month 2026

Observed since the 1960s, National Back to School Month is an annual awareness event occurring every August in the United States that both highlights the mental transition from summer break and serves as an important period for students, parents, and teachers to organize, purchase school supplies, and plan class schedules for the upcoming academic year.

While there is no set toolkit for National Back to School Month, the event does present opportunities to discuss and promote public health in schools.
