A Declaration of U.S. Health Collaborating Centers - April 28, 2020
Now more than ever, we need WHO to carry out its mission. Now is not the time to get in the way and point fingers. Now is the time to do all we can to find solutions,” write the leaders.

COLUMBIA, MD (April 28, 2020) – Today, 40 respected health leaders across the United States released A Declaration of U.S. Health Collaborating Centers, an open letter urging the president and the Congress not only to restore but increase funding for the World Health Organization (WHO). The declaration stated that the mission and capacity of WHO is needed now more than ever to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.

As leaders in health, the Collaborating Centers are designated by the World Health Organization. The Collaborating Centers and the institutions where they are located typically donate time, expertise, and other resources to improve health around the globe and here in the United States. The work of WHO’s Collaborating Centers has contributed greatly to the health of U.S. citizens and people everywhere. The declaration represents the views of its authors, not the World Health Organization or the institutions where the Collaborating Centers are located.

The National Center for Healthy Housing has served as WHO’s Collaborating Center for Healthy Housing Training and Research since 2010.
