World No Tobacco Day
The World Health Organization (WHO) and its partners observe World No Tobacco Day annually on May 31 to raise awareness on the negative health effects of tobacco use and secondhand smoke exposure, and to discourage its use. Each year, World Tobacco Day focuses on a specific campaign related to tobacco use, tobacco products, and their effects. The 2020 World No Tobacco Day theme is “Protecting youth from industry manipulation and preventing them from tobacco and nicotine use.”
The Great American Smokeout
Hosted by the American Cancer Society, the Great American Smokeout occurs annually on the third Thursday of November to encourage smoking cessation.
