The Indiana State Department of Health’s Asthma Program has been receiving technical assistance from NCHH and other partner experts to address a variety of issues related to the formal beginning of state Medicaid reimbursement for non-clinical home visitors starting in July 2018. Developing the available workforce to provide these services (including CHWs and others such as trained paramedicine professionals for example), encouraging clinics to promote uptake of these services, building a “business case” to support the work in Indiana, and discussing ways to develop a “provider champion” to support awareness of the value of home-based asthma services have served as the primary areas of technical assistance provided.
