Foundation for Professional Pest Management (QualityPro)

10460 North Street Fairfax, VA 22033

With funding from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, NCHH has funded two rounds of Healthy Homes Workforce Development Mini-Grants, with applications open during late 2017 and spring 2018. These mini-grants help communities develop their workforce capacity to offer home-visiting services related to healthy homes, and to build a pool of trained community health workers (CHWs) trained in the healthy homes principles.
The mission of the Foundation for Professional Pest Management (d.b.a. QualityPro) is to set the standards of excellence for professional pest management companies and their employees through education, training and certification, thus providing consumers protection and confidence when selecting a nationally accredited company. Pest management professionals (PMPs), who work in every community across the U.S., have voiced a desire for more resources and credentials to prove their professionalism when it comes to creating pest-free homes.
As a current 2018 mini-grantee, QualityPro will create, launch, and promote a new suite of public health service certifications that will give PMPs the opportunity to prove their knowledge of public health pests, set standards for what services targeting mosquitoes and rodents must include, and give communities an easy way to identify select professional pest management companies as partners in the creation of healthy homes.
There is at least one QualityPro accredited company servicing every part of the country and, through QualityPro’s close ties with the National Pest Management Association, all pest management firms will be encouraged to pursue the new public health credentials through QualityPro. These companies employ the PMPs who go into healthy homes communities every day. Giving these individuals the opportunity to test their knowledge of public health pests will result in a well-trained, knowledgeable, and credible healthy homes workforce.
